“Smile. It’s free therapy.” -Douglas Horton
Let’s get one thing straight: Your teeth. Ask Dr. Stang about clear orthodontic aligners and straighten your teeth to enhance your smile and make dental hygiene a little easier.
Clear aligners from Stang Family Orthodontics are SO perfect for anyone – seniors, adults, teens and young children looking to straighten their teeth without looking like they’re straightening their teeth.
Typically made from durable hardened plastic, clear aligners are like shells that are custom-made to precisely fit the contours of your teeth. Clear aligners come in sequential sets of prescribed shells, each progressively building on the movement induced by the previous shell. Usually, a patient will wear a single clear aligner shell for about a week or two before progressing to the next one in the sequence.
You have two clear choices for teeth straightening: Aligners and Braces. Stang Family Orthodontics is proud to offer both options, providing you with total convenience as we achieve the smile of your dreams.
Let’s discuss the option of Clear Aligners – offering the most advanced techniques in teeth and bite alignment.
It’s important to remember to remove your clear aligners before eating or drinking anything other than water. Kept unclean, aligners can trap bits of food against the teeth and gums, increasing the risk of cavities and gingivitis. (Trust us – one slice of pizza and you’ll be washing off a lot of pepperoni bits.)
Also, remove your aligners prior to brushing or flossing. Don’t forget to brush your aligners too!
Take good care of your clear aligners so they’ll continue to fit properly and do the job they were designed to do.
Braces and aligners do the same thing – straighten your teeth – but in different ways. Both are effective at straightening teeth, and both are offered in Reston VA by Dr. Stang at Stang Family Orthodontics.
There are a few substantial differences between aligners and braces. Braces are typically made of metal or ceramic, and they’re connected with brackets glued directly to the teeth. On the other hand, aligners are plastic shells custom-designed to fit over your teeth and gradually reposition them using slight pressure. Unlike braces, which remain adhered to the teeth for the duration of the treatment, aligners can be easily removed and replaced by the patient.
Clear aligners are an amazing option for patients wanting a discreet solution to teeth alignment, but they may not be the best fit for everyone. For example, if your daily lifestyle and routine cannot adjust to taking an appliance in and out (as with aligners), then choosing a fixed appliance (such as braces) may be best for you.
