Stang Family Orthodontics » Early Prevention / Phase I Treatment
Don’t worry Mom- most kids won’t need braces until all their adult teeth come in, but there are some exceptions. The American Association of Orthodontists recommends children see an Orthodontist by age 7 in order to rule out certain growth issues or bad oral habits. Early treatment (also known as Phase I) typically begins around age eight or nine (Phase Two will begin around age 11 or older). The goal of early treatment is to correct the growth of the jaw and certain bite problems, such as underbite. Early treatment also helps to make room for permanent teeth to come in properly, lessening the chance of extractions in the future. Just come in for a free consult and Dr. Stang will tell you straight up if your child would benefit from early braces or Orthodontic treatment.
